1 hour credit Drugs and Dosages II continues the study of the pharmaceutical arithmetic that assists students in solving the mathematics of drugs and solutions encountered in the everyday routine of administering medications. This course is designed for the student who has prior experience with and/or has taken the introductory course. The previous course concepts will be briefly reviewed. The emphasis will be on pediatric dosage and intravenous dosage calculations. Prerequisites: ALHT- 0110 or previous experience.

1 hour credit This course is designed for the child care giver. First aid and safety in the preschool years will be emphasized. CPR will also be taught. The student will be required to attend all 16 hours of the course.

2 hours credit The theory and practice of first aid and safety are covered. Methods of administering first aid in case of accident or sudden illness; bandaging; resuscitation; and caring for wounds and injuries.

3.00 Credits
3 hours credit The General Pharmacology course provides students with a concise introduction to pharmacology. The mechanisms of action, sites of action, and side effects of drugs will be presented. Emphasis will be placed on toxic signs adverse drug reactions, and any special management issues relevant to the various classes of drugs. Prerequisite: Basic computer skills are necessary. 1 hour credit This course will study the use of prefixes, suffixes and root words to build a vocabulary for medical personnel. The student begins by identifying roots, suffixes and prefixes of medical terminology, and then progresses by studying related medical terms of the body system (skin, skeleton, muscle, blood & lymph, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, and urinary systems). The student will explore how these terms relate to the general anatomy of the body. There are no onground meetings for this course.

3 hours credit To provide students interested in a health care career with a cross training of basic health care concepts and techniques which are universal skills utilized by any health care provider. Learning opportunities are provided in the areas of proper body mechanics, ambulation techniques, ADL and adaptive equipment, current documentation protocols, universal precautions, vital signs, interpersonal skills, critical thinking, medical terminology, and professional ethics/patient's rights. This course would also provide students an opportunity to explore the various health care careers currently available at KCKCC.

3 hours credit This course explores physical and physiological topics related to sleep and sleep disorders in an introductory approach. Normal sleep, sleep disorders, sleep assessments, and sleep remedies are studied. The course is preparatory for respiratory therapy students, and health care providers who will screen, test, treat, and support clients with sleep disorders. The course is informative for general students interested in sleep topics. The course provides resources and support for participants who are personally dealing with sleep disorders. Prerequisite: Basic computer skills.

3 hours credit The course is designed to provide an insight to a special population: women. This course is designed for various disciplines affecting the realm of women's health. Its emphasis is on a holistic approach including medical and psychological topics and the treatment options consisting of medical intervention, pharmacology, and other allied health therapies.
