Prerequisites: EDUC 2110, EDUC 2120, and EDUC 2130 with a grade of C or better. This course provides an introduction to the history of the Early Childhood profession including current trends. It is designed to help students understand the expectations and responsibilities of becoming a part of a professional community. The course concludes with an induction ceremony marking entrance to participation in professional endeavors.

Prerequisites: Admission to Teacher Education. An examination of formal and informal classroom assessment procedures, methods of action research, and standardized measurement. Students will become familiar with the Georgia Performance Standards and the use of rubrics to assess student performance. Pertinent issues relating to assessment will also be examined.

Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education. An examination of the creative process as applied to the education and development of young children, their families, and their environment.

Prerequisites: Admission to Teacher Education, EDEC 3255, and EDEC 4155 with a grade of C or better in each. Corequisite: EDUF 4205. Focus on theory, planning, implementation, and evaluation of all aspects related to curriculum, including establishing and managing an appropriate environment leading to children's sociomoral and autonomy development. This course includes extensive laboratory experiences where students interact with diverse learners as they plan, implement, and evaluate integrated curriculum.

Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education. An examination of the development of cognition and language with emphasis on neuroanatomical structures and behaviors, constructivist theory, and related topics including nutrition and safety.

Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education. The application of teaching listening, speaking, reading, writing, viewing, and visually representing in early childhood education. Emphasis: writing, listening, and speaking. NCTE/IRA Standards.

Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education and and EDEC 4155 with a grade of C or better. An examination of curriculum concepts, skills, and instructional methodologies appropriate for teaching science to young children.

Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education, MATH 2008, MAED 5131U, and EDEC 4155 with a grade of C or better. This course will cover methods, principles, and strategies for teaching math in early childhood education. In addition, the coursework will focus on analysis and remediation of diagnosed math strengths and weaknesses using informal assessment instruments and techniques. Required field component is part of course.

Advanced study of content, materials and instructional procedures for teaching language arts through grade 5.

A study of writing experiences appropriate for young children through grade 5, together with research on language development pertinent to writing instruction. Focus on writing workshops.
