Credits: 4 Prerequisite: none This course covers standard automotive and light truck clutches, drive line, differential/4x4 and manual transmissions/ transaxles. The clutch section includes design, adjustment, overhaul, diagnosis and repair of mechanical and hydraulic systems. The drive line section includes phasing alignment and balance. The manual transmission/transaxle section teaches the operation theory and repair. This course provides a minimum of 100 clock hours of the 100 required NATEF clock hours. Credits: 4 Prerequisite: none This course teaches suspension systems using leaf springs, coil springs, MacPherson struts, torsion bars and wheel balance. It also covers the principles of operation, disassembly, checks and adjustments of power and manual steering gears, and manual and power rack and pinion systems. Also teaches the procedures required for checking and adjusting wheel alignment. This course provides a minimum of 100 clock hours of the 95 required NATEF clock hours. Credits: 4 Prerequisite: none This course teaches the principles of brakes, hydraulic system fundamentals, disc and drum brakes, parking brakes and power assist units. Also included is an introduction to ABS systems. Emphasis is placed on operation, diagnosis and repair of various types of brake systems. The various types, diagnosis of malfunctions, testing and repair are studied in the classroom.
