Against recurrent threats of federal censorship, filmmakers have struggled to present messages that have often been at odds with a vast array of powerful groups, from the Catholic Legion of Decency to National Organization for Women. Discussions will cover the erosion of the Production Code and the institution of a Rating system. Prerequisite: Limited to honors scholars.
