Positive Psychology Pre: Co: Designed to provide a basic understanding of psychology, what we have learned about ourselves, and how psychology is applied to help improve people's lives. The focus will be on the more positive psychological aspects of a fulfilling and flourishing life rather than focusing on the deficits and disabilities. You will examine your own unique potential for positive growth and development. Topics include happiness, self esteem, empathy, friendship, goal setting, love, achievement, creativity, mindfulness, spirituality, and humor.

Event Design/Decor Pre: Co: Explore the techniques used for transforming any space from the ordinary to the extraordinary. By combining design elements from lighting & fabric to architectural structures and props, you will learn how to stretch your imagination. Embrace your personal style and unique vision by creating "emotional moments" that will have lasting memories for your clients. Whether it's a wedding, gala black tie dinner or a business conference, Event Design & Decor will teach you how to carry a theme throughout your event space. Please note this is not an interior design course- it is geared toward event design only.

Spice up your late summer menus with fennel and brown sugar pork steak, grilled peaches with honey glaze; or whole roasted chicken with fresh herbs and lemon. Learn some new and interesting brining and marinade recipes. This class include side dishes; so you can prepare your entire meal on the grill. Can a Glass of Wine a Day Keep the Doctor Away? Pre: Co: Wine has been recognized for its health benefits for over 2,000 years. Today, the components of wine continue to be studied for their health giving properties. Why do the people of southwest France and Sardinia live long and healthy lives. It is believed that wine may hold the key to slowing the aging process, for providing protection from a number of diseases, including Alzheimer's, heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and various forms of cancers. Whether you are new to wine or an aficionado, come and learn how wine may add to a healthy lifestyle, while enjoying red and white wines carefully chosen to match the presentation. A $20 fee is payable to the instructor at the first class for the cost of food and wine. Students are required to bring four wine glasses to class.

An Introduction to Port Wine Pre: Co: Port is a wine that is steeped in tradition. Learn what are fortified wines; the differences between vintage and non-vintage Port, ruby and tawny; and how to understand the many different styles of Port that appear on a wine label. Enjoy a variety of different Ports while listening to amusing stories from Port's long and interesting history. Bring four wine glasses to class. A $25 fee is payable to the instructor to cover the cost of food and wine. Students are required to bring four wine glasses to class. Must be 21 or older to attend.

Keys to Healthy Eating Pre: Co: Learn to eat for health in this demonstration cooking class. Discover the best cuts of meat, chicken and fish, fats, fruits and vegetables, herbs and spices to buy at the supermarket. Try meat sauce with pasta; chicken salad with fruit and greens; white bean salad with prosciutto; chocolate buttermilk cake; and granola with a secret ingredient. All recipes have been designed to get the most of the nutrition, flavor, and satisfaction from the food you eat. Classes are held at eurostoves, Commodore Plaza, 45 Enon Street, Beverly (Rte 1A).
