The internship is approximately 200 actual hours of supervised counseling experience. The internship provides supervision of individual counseling, group counseling, lecture presentations, on-call experiences, staff interaction, including contributions during staff meetings, clinical documentation and record keeping. The ability to collect appropriate patient data, evaluate the data clinically, establish an effective treatment plan, and communicate the information in the patient record and during multi-disciplinary case conference reviews are part of the supervision. This two credit hour internship includes the completion of the requirements for the Recommended Professional Practice Dimensions of the Addiction Technology Transfer Center and The National Curriculum Committee as outlined in Addiction Counseling Competencies: The Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes of Professional Practice. The course is a presentation of the reactions of aliphatic and aromatic compounds. Emphasis is placed on modern spectroscopy, mechanisms of reactions and bonding in organic compounds. This course is designed for students of chemistry, biological science, pre-pharmacy, pre-veterinary, pre-medicine, pre-dentistry and medical technology. (Offered fall semester)

A continuation of Organic Chemistry I, this course provides an in-depth study of areas touched in CH225 (Organic Chemistry I). Areas related to biochemistry are stressed. This course is for students needing ten hours of organic chemistry: chemistry, pre-pharmacy, pre-medicine and pre-dentistry majors. (Offered spring semester)

This course is an orienation to academic and career planning and preparation. Seminar includes program requirements and the need for the student to maintain a quality adviser-advisee relationship. The course is designed to assist the students in their transition into college life and preparing for their future. Students will receive information on developing positive study skills and enhancing their note-taking abilities. This course will also discuss the importance of appropriate dress, conduct, resume writing and networking. [Students pursuing an associate degree with a concentration in criminal justice and pre-law must take this course during their final semester.]

This course is an introduction to the various components of the criminal justice system including police, corrections, courts and juvenile justice. The course will illustrate how these interrelated components result in the administration of justice in a constitutionally based society. Current problems faced by the criminal justice process and the future challenges will be discussed.
