The internship is approximately 200 actual hours of supervised counseling experience. The internship provides supervision of individual counseling, group counseling, lecture presentations, on-call experiences, staff interaction, including contributions during staff meetings, clinical documentation and record keeping. The ability to collect appropriate patient data, evaluate the data clinically, establish an effective treatment plan, and communicate the information in the patient record and during multi-disciplinary case conference reviews are part of the supervision. This two credit hour internship includes the completion of the requirements for the Recommended Professional Practice Dimensions of the Addiction Technology Transfer Center and The National Curriculum Committee as outlined in Addiction Counseling Competencies: The Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes of Professional Practice.
