Equivalency Details

The information presented is an unofficial guide to how courses may transfer. Other factors to consider are grades received in the courses, the year in which the course was taken, and the major pursued after transfer. In all instances, final decisions about acceptance of course credit will be made by University of Houston-Downtown.

If you complete the following at Polytechnic Institute of New York University:

  • 3:2:1:4 Chemical equations, chemical conservation laws, stoichiometry, thermochemistry, properties of gases, atomic structure, periodic table, chemical bonding and molecular structure. Required course for students in the Biomolecular Science program.
    Credits
    3.00

You may receive up to 4.00 credits at University of Houston-Downtown:

  • Experiments which illustrate basic laboratory techniques and procedures, physical and chemical properties, stoichiometry, solutions, and thermochemistry. Laboratory fee required: $17. 3 additional laboratory or activity hours per week. (CHEM 1111)
    Credits
    1.00
  • Fundamentals of general chemistry. Descriptive material is correlated with the basic chemical principles and their applications. Modern concepts of atomic and molecular structure, chemical bonding, the gaseous state and the kinetic molecular theory of matter are analyzed. Emphasis on stoichiometric calculations of mass and molar relationships, energy relations and intermolecular forces. Credit for both CHEM 1305 and CHEM 1307 may not be applied toward a degree. (CHEM 1311)
    Credits
    3.00
