Computer Science A emphasizes object-oriented programming methodology with an emphasis on problem solving and algorithm development and is meant to be the equivalent of a first-semester course in computer science. It also includes the study of data structures and abstraction, but these topics are not covered to the extent that they are covered in Computer Science AB.

This course will introduce the student to program analysis and design using structured programming design concepts and techniques. Programming logic and concepts will be explored including algorithmic development, interface design, objects creation and use, data management, decision making, repetition and basic data structures using an objectoriented programming language. Students will not receive credit for both CSI 105 and CSI 106. Prerequisite: Eligibility for ENG 101 and MTH 095 or MPE Pre or Co requisite: CSI 111 or CSI 101
