The information presented is an unofficial guide to how courses may transfer.   • Introduction to the concepts and principles of modern biological thought with coverage of the following topics: the chemical basis of life including atoms, molecules, organic macromolecules, and cellular structure and function; cell division, including mitosis and meiosis; the fundamentals of Mendelian genetics, gene structure and expression, and current research in the field of genetics; developmental biology and cellular differentiation; evolutionary patterns and processes. Prerequisite: Bi-101. Rec. 3, Lab. 3, Cr. 4.

You may receive up to 4.00 credits at University of Delaware:

  • Molecular basis of life. Structure and function of cells, including signal transduction pathways. Energy transformations. Classical Mendelian genetics and the flow of information from DNA to RNA to proteins. Laboratory focuses on the testing of hypotheses, data analysis and scientific writing. COREQ: MATH114, MATH115, or MATH117. RESTRICTIONS: Students whose MATH Placement Examination Score placed them in MATH221 or higher need not take a MATH course coincident with BISC207. Students who received credit in BISC 205 are not eligible to take this course without permission.

Credits awarded for incoming transfer courses will be determined pending official University of Delaware admission offer. An equal amount of UD credits are typically awarded based on the number of incoming credits. Credits taken on a quarterly system are adjusted for semester credit hour conversion. The number of credits awarded for Transfer Electives will vary based on the credit-load taken at the original institution and the credit-load for the equivalent University of Delaware course(s).

Minimum Grade

You need a minimum grade of C to transfer these courses from Maine Maritime Academy to University of Delaware.
