The information presented is an unofficial guide to how courses may transfer.   • (Fall & Spring; Yearly; 4.00 Credits; N) An introductory study of computer science software development concepts. Java is used to introduce a disciplined approach to problem solving methods, algorithm development, software design, coding, debugging, testing, and documentation in the object oriented paradigm. This is the first course in the study of computer science. Recommended programming experience or IT110 or MA103 but not necessary.

You may receive up to 3.00 credits at University of Delaware:

  • Computing and principles of programming with an emphasis on systematic program design. Topics include functional programming, data abstraction, procedural abstraction, use of control and state, recursion, testing, and object-oriented programming concepts. Requires no prior programming experience, open to any major, but intended primarily for majors and minors in computer science or mathematics. COREQ: MATH115, MATH117, or higher math course or math placement. RESTRICTIONS: Students who received credit in CISC106 are not eligible to take this course without permission.

Credits awarded for incoming transfer courses will be determined pending official University of Delaware admission offer. An equal amount of UD credits are typically awarded based on the number of incoming credits. Credits taken on a quarterly system are adjusted for semester credit hour conversion. The number of credits awarded for Transfer Electives will vary based on the credit-load taken at the original institution and the credit-load for the equivalent University of Delaware course(s).
