3 credits This course is designed to help the student find personal meaning in works of art and develop a better understanding of the nature and validity of art. Emphasis is on the diversity of form and content in original works of art. Upon completion, students should understand the fundamentals of art, the materials used and have a basic overview of the history of art.

This is an introductory course to the history and appreciation of art including the elements and principles of the visual arts. (This course is transferable to public senior institutions as part of the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education Statewide Articulation Agreement.)
