Financial Information

• Scholarships and Financial Aid:
  Scholarship consideration is given to all applicants at each stage in the admission cycle based on the quality of the academic record. All students wishing to be considered for need-based financial aid must submit the FAFSA as soon after January 1.

• Accepts Transfers:
  You are considered a transfer student if you have completed at least one semester of coursework at another college or university. You may apply using either the Willamette University Application or the Common Application.

Transfer Application Requirements

• Minimum GPA:
  Straight A grades are not required for admission, but our faculty have high expectations, and consistently strong performance demonstrates that you take academic achievement seriously. If there are peaks and valleys in your academic performance you should take the opportunity to let the Admission Committee know what was happening. And in general, an improving grade trend will be more compelling than one going the other direction.
• Official Transcripts:
  High school transcripts and college transcripts from every institution attended are required.
• SAT Scores:
  Your scores on the SAT and/or ACT will also play a part in our consideration.
• Letters of Recommendation:
  Your counselor and teacher recommendations are very helpful. They need not be lengthy, but they should be written by someone who will do more than just restate your co-curricular resume or your transcript.
• Essay:
  The application essay is a great opportunity for you to bring your application to life for the Admission Committee. It's your chance to showcase your achievements, character and personality not always apparent in the other pieces of your application.
• Application Fee:
  $50 nonrefundable fee if submitting a paper application, no fee if applying online.
• Interview:
  One of the best ways to help us better understand you as a potential Willamette student is to visit campus and interview with a member of the Admission Committee.
• Associates Degree Required:
  If admitted with a college transfer Associate of Arts degree from an accredited community college will be automatically granted 15 Willamette credits (Junior standing) upon entrance.

  Applicants must complete the Common Application for transfers and Willamette's Common Application Supplement.

Transfer Credit Policy

• Minimum Grade:
  Courses with grades below a C- (C minus) will not receive credit.
• Credits (Min/Max):
  A maximum of 16 credits (15 credits for 2-years) will be granted to transfer students. Once you have accumulated a total of 15 Willamette credits (60 semester/90 quarter hours), including transfer work, no further credits will count to the degree.
