  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    Completing the FAFSA allows you to be considered for federal, state, and some types of institutional financial aid. If you are a transfer student for fall, the first step is to get admitted to Wichita State. If you’re eligible, we'll send you a scholarship offer as early as February. Transfer Merit Scholarships provide a renewable award of up to $3,000 for new, incoming domestic transfer students who take at least 12 credit hours and are working toward their first bachelor’s degree.

    Vocational or technical courses only transfer as free electives, and often do not count toward completion of a specific program at WSU.
  • Credit For Life Experience:
    Departments have varying policies as to any CPL (credit by exam, retroactive credit, etc.) that will be deemed equivalent to their courses.

  • Minimum GPA:
    If you are a transfer student with 24 credit hours or more, you must have a minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA (on a 4.00 scale) on all previous college work. If you are a transfer student under age 21, with fewer than 24 credit hours, you must have a minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA (on a 4.00 scale) on all previous college work and meet the freshman requirements. Certain academic colleges within Wichita State require students to meet a minimum GPA for admission to their colleges. The School of Business requires that incoming students have a minimum 2.25 GPA, and the College of Applied Studies requires a minimum 2.00 GPA. The College of Health Professions has GPA requirements that vary depending on major.

    Official college transcripts from all prior institutions are required. An official high school transcript may be required of some applicants and are recommended.
  • SAT Scores:
    Standardized test scores may be required of some applicants and are recommended of all.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    The lowest grade earned for any course that may be transferred for credit is C.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A maximum of 60 credit hours may be transferred from a two-year institution, 90 credit hours from a four-year institution. You must complete 15 hours at Wichita State to earn your Associate of Arts degree and 30 hours to earn your bachelor's degree.
