Information for Transfer In Students

  • Accepts Transfers:
    Transfers make up 25% of the incoming class. At a minimum, transfers must meet admissions requirements for new freshmen. Transfers with over 30 credit hours may submit just college transcripts for admissions purposes.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    2.0 GPA minimum to be considered for admission. Acceptance will also depend on level of coursework taken, and number of credit hours attempted.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official transcripts required from every college attended prior. Transfers with more than 30 hours need submit only college transcripts unless they have no math or English coursework in college. Less than 30 hours need high school transcript.
  • SAT Scores:
    SAT or ACT scores required of all transfer applicants with less than 30 credit hours. Also required of transfer students with more than 30 hours but lacking satisfactory completion (C grade or better) of a college level math or English course.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Letters of recommendation are accepted for all students and are recommended for any transfer student who has less than a 2.50 college GPA.
  • Essay:
    Essays are accepted from all students and required for students with less than a 2.5 college GPA. Essay should explain why student wants to attend Western, what steps they'll take to improve GPA, and why they think they'll succeed at Western.
  • Application Fee:
    $30. Currently waived if student applies online.
  • Interview:
    Not required.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    C- or better grade required for any course to tranfer.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    60 transfer credits max for Junior or community college transfers. 90 transfer credits max for four year college or university transfers.
