Financial Information

  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    As part of Western Governors University, WGU Texas is approved by the U.S. Department of Education to offer federal financial aid. This combined with WGU Texas' low tuition make a college education incredibly affordable. The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is a federal form you will be required to complete to qualify for most student financial aid.
  • Tuition and Fees:

  • Degree Completion Programs:
    WGU Texas is offering B.S. Information Technology; B.S. IT - Network Administration; B.S. IT – Security; and B.S. IT – Management for working IT professionals, and for others outside the IT sector, B.S. Business Management and B.S. Sales Management.
  • Technical/Vocation Credit Accepted:
    Students with industry IT credentials that map into the B.S. IT degrees may receive credit based on an individual audit. Students may accelerate their time to completion by demonstrating mastery of the competencies by passing our assessments.
  • Credit For Life Experience:
    WGU Texas does not grant degrees based on previous life experience. Under the individualized guidance of a dedicated student mentor, students may proceed quickly through material they already know so they can focus on what they still need to learn.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    WGU Texas requires students to pass a College Readiness Assessment and meet other criteria which may vary slightly by program. Program specific admission requirements can be accessed here: http://texas.wgu.edu/admissions/requirements
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official transcripts of all prior academic work at community colleges, colleges or universities must be sent from those institutions to WGU Texas. Relevant industry experience may be required in some programs. See the website for details.
  • SAT Scores:
    Standardized test scores are not required for consideration. All incoming students need to take and pass the WGU Texas College Readiness Assessment.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Please speak to an Enrollment Counselor to attain more information pertaining to the enrollment processes. Most programs may not require submission of letters of recommendation.
  • Essay:
    An essay is not required as part of the application.
  • Application Fee:
    There is a non-refundable $65 application fee. This fee is waived if you are either faculty, staff or graduate of a partnering community college or partnering institution.
  • Interview:
    WGU requires an Intake Interview for enrollment, which is an important “checkpoint” to make sure we have all the correct information for you to begin. This needs to be completed by the 15th of the month prior to your intended start date.
