    To be considered for federal and state financial aid, including loans, you must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year. Our school code is 001842. Transfer students are eligible for scholarships based on previous college work. Scholarship amounts vary depending on the cumulative grade point average at the previous institution(s) and range from $20,000 to $25,000.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    A minimum college GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) is required of transfer applicants.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Ask the registrar at every community college, college, or university you’ve attended to send your transcripts to our Office of Undergraduate Admission. If you've earned fewer than 24 college credits, an official high school transcript is required.
  • SAT Scores:
    If you've earned fewer than 24 college credits, official SAT and/or ACT test scores are required.
  • Essay:
    A personal statement of at least 250 words is required.
  • Interview:
    An interview may be recommended of some applicants.
  • Other Requirements:
    A statement of good standing from prior institutions is required.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Valpo will accept transfer credits with a minimum grade of C-. Grades are not transferable; only credits transfer.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    The maximum number of credits Valpo accepts depends on the college you attend. You must complete 30 semester hours at Valpo with a minimum GPA of 2.0 to earn your bachelor's degree.
