  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    Scholarship eligibility for new students is based on your high school GPA, class rank, and ACT or SAT scores or college GPA for transfer students. Valley City State University participates in many federal programs including Pell Grants, Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, Academic Competitiveness Grant, Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (Smart Grant), TEACH Grant, Work-study, Perkins Loans and the various Stafford Loan programs (including subsidized and unsubsidized).

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    In order to be considered for admission, you must have a 2.00 GPA on a 4.00 scale. Applicants are reviewed and considered on an individual basis. If you have completed less than 24 transferable credits, you must follow freshman applicant requirements as well.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official transcripts of all previous academic work from each institution attended are required. A copy of the high school transcript or proof of successful completion of the GED is required unless you have completed 24 or more semester hours.
  • SAT Scores:
    Results of the American College Test (ACT) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) are required, unless you have completed 24 or more semester (36 quarter) hours of transferable credit.
  • Application Fee:
    There is a $35 non-refundable application fee.
  • Associates Degree Required:
    Transfer students who have graduated from a regionally accredited institution and have completed a general education program at that institution consisting of a minimum of 36 semester hours will be deemed to have met all lower division general educat

    Verification of measles immunization is required.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Credits (Min/Max):
    You must successfully complete a minimum of 32 graduate semester credits with course grades received of A, B, C, S in an approved plan of study to be eligible for graduation. You may not transfer more than 9 credit hours required for the degree.
