    The UNO Office of Financial Aid administers federal financial aid programs, coordinates grants and scholarships with state agencies, and awards numerous endowed scholarships. Our staff is available to assist you with questions or provide information on a walk-in or call-in basis each weekday. Appointments may also be scheduled with a financial aid counselor.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    The minimum college grade point average required of transfer applicants is 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Official Transcripts:
    An official high school transcript is required for all transfer students to review the high school academic record and for verification of residency for tuition purposes. Official transcripts from all previously attended colleges are required.
  • SAT Scores:
    Students presenting fewer than 12 semester hours of transferable coursework are required to submit ACT or SAT results.
  • Essay:
    An essay is not required.
  • Interview:
    An interview is not required.
  • Other Requirements:
    A transfer student who has successfully completed 12 or more transferable semester hours from a regionally accredited institution following high school graduation will be expected to have met the freshman core course requirements.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Usually those credits earned with a grade of "C-" or better from a regionally accredited institution may be applied toward a baccalaureate degree.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A maximum of 64 semester credit hours may be transferred from community colleges, 94 from a 4-year. The minimum number of credits that you must complete UNO to earn a bachelor’s degree is 30.
