Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    The minimum GPA requirement for transfer applicants is 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official college transcripts, from all colleges attended are required. If you have not successfully completed 24 credits of college coursework, you must submit an official high school transcript.
  • SAT Scores:
    Students who will have completed less than 24 college-level credits by the time of matriculation at UMass Lowell must submit ACT/SAT scores.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    One letter of recommendation from someone who is familiar with your abilities and experience (a teacher, guidance counselor, coach, employer, etc.) is required.
  • Essay:
    A personal essay is required.
  • Application Fee:
    The application fee is $60 for all applicants.
  • Interview:
    A personal interview might be requested of some.
  • Other Requirements:
    A list of all courses not shown on transcripts is required.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Only courses with grades of “C-” or better are transferable.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    The maximum transfer credits accepted from a 2-year is 60 semester hours, and from a 4-year is 90. You must complete 30 semester hours at UMass Lowell to earn a bachelor's degree.
