Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    A minimum college grade point average of 2.4 is required of resident applicants, 2.8 for non-resident applicants.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities are required. Your official high school transcript is also required.
  • SAT Scores:
    Standardized test scores are not required.
  • Essay:
    UCSB requires a Personal Statement (1,000 words) addressing 2 different prompts.
  • Application Fee:
    There is a $70 non-refundable application fee ($80 for international applicants).
  • Interview:
    An interview is not required for admission consideration.
  • Other Requirements:
    Some Programs have additional requirements.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    The lowest grade earned for any course that may be transferred for credit is a D or higher.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    The maximum number of credits or courses that may be transferred from a two-year institution is 70. You must complete 35 semester units in residence at UCSB to earn your bachelor's degree.
