UWM offers 205 degree programs with classes taught by faculty members recognized worldwide as experts in their fields. It’s also home to Wisconsin’s largest online education program, with more than 850 classes and 40 fully online certificate and degree programs. The university is home to the state’s largest collaboration of health sciences, nursing and public health programs through its Partners for Health initiative. It also boasts one of the world’s top film programs, the state’s largest school of education and Wisconsin’s only program in American Sign Language. Other major programs include business, engineering and information studies. We pride ourselves on having programs as diverse as our students’ interests.

    A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed each year to be evaluated for most loan assistance. New transfer students at UWM are encouraged to complete the Panther Portal General Application to be automatically considered for Admission scholarship and others.

    The price tag attached to a UWM degree depends on a variety of factors, from your state residency to the number of courses you take each semester.

  • Accepts Transfers:
    Transfer students are students who have earned or are currently earning college credit after high school. Students who previously attended UWM but have since enrolled at another institution should apply to UWM as a transfer student.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Official Transcripts:
    Official transcripts, sent directly from the schools you’ve attended, must be submitted for application review. Admission decisions are conditional until an official final high school transcript is submitted after high school graduation.
  • SAT Scores:
    Test scores are optional. Submission of test results is never required for students age 21 and older or applicants with at least 12 transferrable credits.
  • Essay:
    The application essay is completed before you submit your application. This is your opportunity to tell your story.
  • Other Requirements:
    UWM offers guaranteed admission for transfer students who have earned at least 24 transferrable college credits; have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA in all transferrable credits from all institution; are in good standing at all previous institutions.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A maximum of 72 semester credits can be transferred from a single or combination of Associate’s Degree/2-year institutions. There is no maximum number of semester credits that can be transferred from a 4-year university.
