The University of South Carolina Lancaster awards associate degrees in the arts, sciences, business, criminal justice, and technical nursing, and offers baccalaureate degrees through USC Columbia in Liberal Studies, Organizational Leadership, and Nursing. Limited upper-division course work leading to baccalaureate degrees is also taught by the USC Lancaster faculty. In addition, USCL offers a variety of opportunities for area residents to engage in personal enrichment experiences through educational programs and service learning. USC Lancaster admits all students who meet admission criteria and demonstrate promise for academic success.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    The University of South Carolina Lancaster does not have a minimum GPA requirement. However, a student must be in good standing from their previous institution. If a student's transfer grade-point average on a 4.00 scale (A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0) is less than 2.25, the student will be under a probationary period at USC Lancaster.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Students must submit complete official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions through the time of application (these must be supplemented by final transcripts that reflect complete academic work prior to beginning classes at USC Lancaster).
  • SAT Scores:
    If a transfer student has completed less than 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of college-level work in a regionally accredited college or university, a student must submit complete high school records, including SAT or ACT scores.
  • Letters of Recommendation:

    A non-refundable $40 application fee.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Transfer credits to USCL must be for academic courses completed with grades of C or better from regionally accredited institutions. The number of credits acceptable to USCL and the number which may apply toward a particular degree may differ.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A maximum of 76 semester hours from a regionally accredited college or university may be transferred to USC Lancaster for degree credit. At least the last 15 semester hours must be completed in residence at USC Lancaster to earn degrees.
