    We strongly recommend that all incoming students apply for financial aid by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), available online at studentaid.gov. Applicants who have a FAFSA filed for their current college should update it to add The University of Scranton school code (003384). We offer several scholarship opportunities to transfer students.

  • Credit For Life Experience:
    An undergraduate student who seeks credit for a significant prior learning experience must develop a portfolio that documents that the prior learning is comparable in nature, content, level and rigor to the equivalent course offered by UofS.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    A minimum GPA of 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale) is required for transfer admission consideration.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official transcripts from all colleges attended are required including a list of current courses in progress. An official high school transcript or GED report is required if you've completed fewer than 30 college credits.
  • SAT Scores:
    If you've completed fewer than 30 college credits, official results of the SAT I or ACT scores are required.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Your guidance counselor or professor/teacher may use The Common Application recommendation forms, an alternate form, or write a letter.
  • Essay:
    The Common Application's essay or your own Personal Statement is required.
  • Application Fee:
    Complete the application free online using The Common Application.
  • Interview:
    An interview is recommended.
  • Other Requirements:
    A Dean of Students Certification and Recommendation Form is required from every college/university attended after high school graduation. Permanent Residents must submit a copy of their current Proof of Residency card.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    The lowest grade earned for any course that may be transferred for credit is C.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    The maximum number of credits accepted for transfer is variable by program. You must complete 30 credits in residence to earn an associate degree and 63 credits in residence to earn a bachelor's degree.
