Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    University of Rochester does not have a requirement for a minimum GPA. Many of our applicants have above a 3.0 GPA and the average for admitted students ranges from 3.3 to 3.7 each semester.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official transcripts are required from all schools attended for the application. Those that have completed college work outside the US must also submit a credential evaluation from WES or ECE evaluation.
  • SAT Scores:
    Rochester is Test Optional. Testing policy can be found at: https://enrollment.rochester.edu/testing-policies/.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    At least one academic letter of recommendation is required, which is often from a college professor.
  • Essay:
    A personal statement essay is required, as well a Rochester specific short answer question.
  • Application Fee:
    $50 (online)
  • Interview:
    Admission interviews are recommended and offered virtually. To ensure the interview is included in our review it should be completed by the time the application is complete for review or shortly after.
  • Associates Degree Required:

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Comparable courses that are completed with a grade of C or better will transfer.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A maximum of 64 credit hours can transfer towards the 128 minimum credit to earn a degree. Students must spend at least 4 semesters as a full-time student, or equivlant part-time credits to earn a Rochester degree.
