Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    You're a strong candidate for admission with 24 or more transferable credits and a cumulative GPA of 2.4 from all institutions attended. If you have at least a 2.0 and are in good academic standing at college or universities you've attended, you're encouraged to apply.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Send official transcripts from all colleges and universities you've attended. If you have more than 24 college credits, submit a proof of high school graduation. Otherwise submit a final official high school transcript.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Letter(s) of recommendation may be requested of some applicants.
  • Application Fee:
    $50 non-refundable application fee (or need-based waiver)
  • Other Requirements:
    Students with less than a 2.39 cumulative GPA from all previous institutions are encouraged to apply. Any negative grade trends or failing grades should be explained in a personal statement.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Courses with a letter grade of “C-” or higher are eligible for transfer.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A maximum of 90 credits or courses may be accepted for transfer from two-year and four-year institutions. You must complete 30 credits in residence at UNC to earn a bachelor's degree.
