Financial Information

  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    Transfer students are eligible to apply for financial aid. The FAFSA is available each January for the upcoming academic year and should be completed early. The fastest/best way to apply is online. Scholarships are also available to transfer students.
  • Tuition and Fees:
    Texas residents can take 15 semester credit hours for two semesters for $8,355.60 (Denton) or $6,600 (Dallas) in 2011-12 ($17,745.60 at Denton or $15,900 at Dallas for nonresidents), plus fees related to instruction.

Information for Transfer In Students

  • Degree Completion Programs:
    BAAS in the College of Information and BAAS in the College of Public Affairs and Community Service at Denton. BAAS in Liberal Arts and Life Sciences at Dallas.
  • Technical/Vocation Credit Accepted:
    If you are pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Arts & Science (BAAS) degree, a majority of your AAS or career/tech credit may transfer. The BAAS degree option lets you combine your specialized course work with additional classes to create customized plan.
  • Credit For Life Experience:

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    If you have more than 44 credit hours, the minimum GPA requirement is 2.0; 30-44 credit hours requires a 2.25; fewer than 30 credit hours requires a 2.5. All are on a 4.0 scale.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Submit separate, official transcripts from every university and college you have attended. If you have earned fewer than 30 college credit hours, also submit an official transcript from your high school.
  • SAT Scores:
    Submit SAT or ACT scores, including the writing section, if you have fewer than 30 college credit hours. If you have 30 or more college credit hours, SAT or ACT scores are not required.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Letters of Recommendation are not required.
  • Essay:
    An essay is not required. You may be required to write a statement of purpose and include it in your Admissions packet in lieu of the submission of standardized test scores.
  • Application Fee:
    $60 (US citizens), $75 (international students)
  • Interview:
    An interview is not required.
  • Associates Degree Required:
    An Associate Degree is not required.
  • Other Requirements:
    Check your TSI (Texas Success Initiative) status in the bottom right corner of your my.unt.edu page or call 940-565-4403, academicreadiness@unt.edu. Based on your SAT, ACT or TAKS score, you may be required to take additional test before enrolling.

    To graduate with a bachelor's degree, 25 percent of the university minimum of 120 hours must be taken in residence at UNT. At least 24 of the hours earned in residence must consist of advanced work.
