UNA is home to about 7,100 students, of whom about 55% are women and 45% are men. Most UNA students are enrolled full-time and are Alabama residents. Classes at UNA are taught by University faculty members, not graduate assistants. More than 70% of the instructional faculty hold doctoral degrees in their fields of study. UNA has an average class size of 25. UNA offers more than 60 undergraduate majors, plus the Ed.S. and master’s degrees in 7 fields of study. Majors include programs such as entertainment industry management, industrial hygiene, hospitality management, marine biology and AL’s only 4-year degree in culinary arts.

  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    There are many types of financial aid given to students at UNA. Any type of aid ranging from Grants and loans to scholarships are given out to students to help them pay for postsecondary education.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    UNA has a minimum GPA requirement of 2.0 for transfer.
  • Official Transcripts:
    The submission of official college transcripts is required. If you have less than 24 transferrable credits, you are required to submit an official high school transcript.
  • SAT Scores:
    UNA requires the submission of official ACT and/or SAT scores.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    A statement of good standing from your prior institution may be required.
  • Application Fee:
    There is a $25 non-refundable application fee.
  • Interview:
    UNA does not require a personal interview.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    The minimum grade required for transfer credit is "C." Courses in which a grade of "D" has been earned will transfer only if the student’s cumulative grade point average on transferable work from each institution is at least a 2.0.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    You must have 24 credits to apply as a transfer student. The maximum credits you can transfer is 64.
