UNM-Los Alamos offers a number of outstanding programs and services to meet a variety of student needs and interests. We offer 14 certificate programs and 18 associate degree programs; community education and customized training courses; small business development seminars through our Small Business Development Centers (Los Alamos and Sandoval Counties); Adult Basic Education programs including General Education Development (GED) and English Language Learners (ESL); and bachelor and graduate degree programs through UNM's Distance Education Program.

  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    As part of its basic philosophy, the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos is committed to ensuring that the opportunity for a post-secondary education not be denied to any student because of limited finances. To fulfill this goal, the Financial Aid Office administers a broad spectrum of loans, grants, employment, and scholarships to meet the financial needs of all the University's students.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Official Transcripts:
    Students must make arrangements for high school and college transcripts to be sent directly from their former educational institutions to the Registrar at UNM-Los Alamos, 4000 University Drive, Los Alamos, New Mexico 87544.
  • SAT Scores:
    If you are transferring to UNM-Los Alamos with fewer than 26 hours of acceptable college work, the applicant is considered a freshman transfer and must also submit official ACT scores.
  • Application Fee:
    The completed application is submitted with a $10 non-refundable application fee.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Academic credits for courses completed at other postsecondary institutions can be transferred to UNM-Los Alamos if a grade of D or better was earned in the course.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A minimum of 30 semester hours of credit must be earned at UNM main campus or UNM-Los Alamos. Of these 30 hours in residence, 15 semester hours must be earned after you have accumulated 92 hours of earned semester credit.
