The University of Minnesota Crookston is a small campus with a big degree! We have 26 specialized degree programs with a 93% job placement. UMC is the original Laptop University where all on-campus full time students are provided a state of the art lap top computer. Our campus has no out of state tuition with flat-rate tuition which makes all credits over 13 per semester tuition-free. Our students compete in NCAA Division II Athletics in a number of competive sports. The students currently attend from 23 countries and 37 states.   • Accepts Transfers:
    Apply to UMC as a transfer if you have earned or completed more than 24 semester or 36 quarter college credits.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    The recommended minimum GPA for admission consideration is a 2.0.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Submit official college transcripts for all college credits attempted or earned.
  • Application Fee:
    There is a $30 non-refundable application fee.
  • Associates Degree Required:
    Students with a completed Associate degree will work with a academic department chairperson to determine additional courses required to complete a baccalaureate degree in a similar program.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Only courses with a grade of D or better earned will be considered to fulfill requirements in general education and academic major courses.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    Previous coursework will be reviewed on an individual basis to determine transfer credits. Transfer students must complete a minimum of 30 semester credits (including the last 20) and all major field requirements of the desired program at UMC.
