Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    The average accepted transfer student has a 3.4 grade point average.
  • Official Transcripts:
    If you have attended more than one college/university, you must submit official transcripts from each college. If you have fewer than 30 college credits, your official high school transcript is required.
  • SAT Scores:
    If you have fewer than 30 college credits, your official SAT/ACT test scores are required.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Transfer Applicants are required to provide a college report through the Common App, which must be completed by a dean or college official who has access to your academic & disciplinary records. We require only one instructor/professor evaluation.
  • Essay:
    We require an essay for Transfer applicants. The essay consists of a personal statement (250 words minimum) that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achei
  • Application Fee:
    A $70 non-refundable application fee is required and may be paid through your Common Application account.
  • Other Requirements:
    Many programs have additional requirements.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Credits will not be accepted with a grade lower than C.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    You must take 45 credits in residence at the University of Miami to earn your bachelor's degree.
