    The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the basic application to apply for and be considered for financial aid. UMFK offers a number of merit-based scholarships for qualifying transfer students enrolled in on-campus degree programs. A separate application is not required to qualify.

    Total Estimated Cost of Attendance: $17,380 In-State/Canadian, $21,790 Out-of-State/International. This includes full-time tuition, fees, books, supplies, residence hall room, and board (14-meal plan).

  • Accepts Transfers:
    At UMFK you are considered a transfer student if you are currently in college or have 13 or more transferable credits taken at another postsecondary institution.
  • Credit For Life Experience:
    Credit may be reviewed and awarded for experiential learning outside the University and is available to students who believe that they can meet the learning outcomes required of a specific course.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    The minimum GPA for transfer into most programs at UMFK is 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale), the exceptions to this are the following: Traditional Nursing = 2.5; Accelerated Nursing = 3.2; RN to BSN Nursing = 2.5.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official college transcripts from each institution you have attended are required. Your official high school transcripts are required if you've completed less than 60 college credits.
  • SAT Scores:
    The submission of standardized test scores is recommended of all applicants.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Letters of recommendation and life experience are also taken into consideration.
  • Essay:
    An essay or personal statement is recommended of all applicants.
  • Interview:
    An interview is recommended of all applicants.
  • Other Requirements:
    You must have left your previous institution in good academic and financial standing.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    The lowest grade earned for any course that may be transferred for credit is C-.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    You must complete a minimum of 15 credits at UMFK to earn your associate degree, and a minimum of 30 credits in residency to earn your bachelor's degree.
