  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    To apply for financial aid at the University of Maine there is only one required application – the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, commonly referred to as the FAFSA. Grants, scholarships, loans, and Federal Work-Study are all considered financial aid. UMaine’s FAFSA code is 002053. Incoming fall transfer students are automatically considered for scholarships at the time of admission. Typically, merit scholarship awards are included with the letter of acceptance.
  • Tuition and Fees:
    Standard Undergraduate Tuition: Maine & Canadian Residents $308/credit hour; Non-Resident $1,001/credit hour; NEBHE (select programs) $524/credit hour.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    A minimum GPA of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale) is required for transfer applicants. Your college GPA and the number of completed courses are considered when awarding scholarships.
  • Official Transcripts:
    An official high school transcript or GED or HiSET documentation, students with over 60 transfer credits may request a waiver of this requirement. Official college transcripts for all colleges attended.
  • SAT Scores:
    100% Test Optional
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Recommendations are not required for transfer applicants, but will be considered if they are submitted.
  • Essay:
    An essay or personal statement is required.
  • Application Fee:
    Waived Application Fee
  • Interview:
    An interview is required of some for admission consideration, will be notified if needed.

  • Minimum Grade:
    The lowest grade earned for any course that may be transferred for credit is a C-.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    You must complete a minimum of 30 credits at UMaine to earn a bachelor's degree.
