Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Transfer applicants with exceptional GPAs may be interested in participating in the university’s prestigious Global Ideas Honors Program. Admits who have completed 28 or more transferable credits with a GPA of 3.5 or above or have completed an Honors Transfer Council of California (HTCC) Honors Transfer Program with a GPA of 3.5 or above will be invited to join.
  • Official Transcripts:
    We’ll need transcripts from all colleges or universities where you have attended. If you plan to transfer with fewer than 28 college credits we’ll need your official high school transcripts as well.
  • SAT Scores:
    The University of La Verne is a test-optional institution, you can decide to submit your test scores if you think they will help strengthen your application.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Have a teacher, academic counselor, supervisor, etc., write us a letter about your work ethic and character. (Hint: You can send a recommendation request form from the application.)
  • Essay:
    The personal statement essay allows us to learn a little more about you. Make sure to proofread! The word count for the essay is 250 words minimum.
  • Application Fee:
    Submit a non-refundable $50 application fee (paid at the time of application submission).
  • Associates Degree Required:
    If you earned an Associate Degree for Transfer from a California Community College, you may transfer your degree in full to satisfy all general education requirements and certain major requirements.
  • Other Requirements:
    If you would like to receive credit for military training or other sources of credit, make sure to submit the appropriate documents.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    A minimum grade of C- must be earned in each course. Grades of PASS or CREDIT will also be considered acceptable for transfer if the sending institution defines a PASS or CREDIT as a C- or better.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    The university will allow you to transfer a maximum of 88 credits toward your bachelor’s degree.
