Information for Transfer In Students

  • Accepts Transfers:
    Transfer students are students pursuing their first bachelor’s degree and have 14 or more semester credits (21 quarter credits) completed after high school.

    An undergraduate may be awarded credit in a specific undergraduate-level course in recognition of university-level knowledge or competence acquired from work experiences, community and volunteer extension courses, and in-service training.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Transfer students are selected from those applicants who present a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 (C average) on all college-level study attempted in all accredited colleges attended, excluding of courses for which credits are not allowed. Students transferring from out-of-state schools in the College of Engineering must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.80. Other departments may have additional requirements pertaining to transfer students.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended are required. High school records may aid in the scholarship selection process, so submission of high school credentials, although not required, is recommended.
  • SAT Scores:
    Applicants with fewer than 14 transferable credits must submit ACT or SAT test scores.
  • Application Fee:
    $60 application fee (non-refundable). No application fee required for Idaho residents!
  • Associates Degree Required:
    Students who have earned an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree from a regionally accredited institution will enter the University of Idaho with their general education requirements satisfied.

  • Credits (Min/Max):
    The maximum number of credits that may be transferred is 70. You must complete 32 credits at UIdaho to earn your bachelor's degree.
