UHCL is a four-year educational institution located adjacent to the NASA Johnson Space Center, in the heart of Houston’s high-technology community.   • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    Automatic transfer scholarships are available to all who transfer from a Texas institution, no application is required. Students with a minimum of 2.75 GPA qualify. To receive the scholarship a student must register for a minimum of 9 semester credit hours each semester.
  • Tuition and Fees:
    $7,131 per academic year for 30 credits; $2,979 for 12 hours per semester.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Applicants with less than 30 college hours will need to meet freshman admissions criteria. Applicants with 30 to 44 college hours need a 2.25 transfer GPA. Applicants with 45 or more college hours need a 2.0 transfer GPA.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Request final transcripts to be sent from each college previously attended.
  • SAT Scores:
    SAT or ACT test scores are not required for transfer students with 30 or more credit hours.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    No letters required.
  • Essay:
    No essay is required.
  • Application Fee:
    $45, submitted with online application
  • Interview:
    No interview is required.
  • Associates Degree Required:
    An associate's degree is not required.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Composition I and Composition II require a C- or better. Other coursework at the freshman and sophomore level may require a minimum grade C- or better depending on the major. Coursework at the junior and senior level require a grade of C- or better.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A max of 90 credit hours toward the degree are accepted. To qualify for the degree a student must complete through instruction at UHCL a minimum of 30 hours. UHCL also accepts a max of 30 hours of AP and CLEP credit towards lower-level coursework.
