Tri-County Community College serves Cherokee, Clay and Graham counties from two convenient campuses, as well as through hundreds of online classes by providing college transfer, vocational, technical, and adult education programs. Established in 1964, the College is a public, two-year institution accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. TCCC offers 22 curriculum programs along with a full slate of continuing education offerings.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    There is a minimum GPA of 2.0 (from 4.0) requirement for transfer.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official high school and college transcripts are required for admission to the College.
  • SAT Scores:
    Applicants must have taken the SAT or ACT in the past five years to be excused from placement testing. Students must have SAT scores of at least 500 verbal and 500 math or an ACT composite score of at least 21
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    TCCC does not publish a requirement for letters of recommendation.
  • Essay:
    TCCC does not publish a requirement for an essay or personal statement, nor do they ask for the submission of one with your application.
  • Application Fee:
    The application process is free.
  • Interview:
    You are required to with an admissions counselor to discuss your application and test results.
  • Other Requirements:
    You are required to take the College Placement Test. Testing requirements for specific programs of study are available from the Admissions Office.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    The miniminim grade required for transfer credit is "C."
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A student who transfers to Tri-County Community College must be enrolled at the College for at least one semester and earn at least 25% of their credit hours from TCCC before a degree or diploma will be conferred.

  • Transfer Agreements:
    Academic work completed at TCCC that is covered by the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement will transfer into all other institutions in the North Carolina system of colleges and universities.
