CSC 201 also has a corequisite of MTH 173. CSC 205 transfers as a General Elective. Beginning with the Fall 2005 semester, VCCS students will not be able to transfer CSC 206 equivalent to Mason's CS 265. CS 265 is being removed from the curriculum. By taking ENGR 265 and CSC 206 at a VCCS school, students will receive credit at Mason for ECE 303L, which is a new CS required course at Mason. ENG 111 requires a qualifying score on the English Placement Test or EPT (for non-native speakers). Mason also requires 3 semester hours of Advanced Composition, ENGL 302, which must be taken at Mason. MTH 173 requires a satisfactory score on the Math Placement Test. MTH 173, 174 (10 sem. hours) meet the B.S. in Computer Science MATH 113, 114 requirement (8 sem. hrs). The 2 additional sem. hrs from MTH 173, 174 are used as General Elective credit. In addition to VCCS's A.S. Degree in Computer Science, students are encouraged to take VCCS's MTH 277, 285, 286 and EGR 265 to meet additional requirements in the B.S. in Computer Science. EGR 265 will satisfy the ECE 301 requirement in Mason's B.S. in Computer Science. Select from VCCS's ECO 201,202, GEO 210, PLS 135, 211,212, PSY 201-202,216,231-232,238, SOC 200,201/202. SDV 100 will transfer as Mason's UNIV 100, which can be used as a general elective. Any SDV course can satisfy the VCCS degree requirement but SDV classes other than 100 are not transferable. The PED requirement may be met by: PED 116 (2 cr.) or PED 116 (1 cr.) and a PED activities course or PED 116 (1 cr.) and an RPK class (RPK 205, 207, 208, 216 or 225). PHY 231 has a prerequisite of MTH 173 and corequisite of MTH 174. While PHY 231, 232 are recommended, students may also choose a two-semester Laboratory Science sequence from BIO 101, 102; CHM 111, 112 - CHM 111 has prerequisites of an English Test qualifying score for ENG 111 and a Math Test qualifying score for MTH 163 or higher; GOL 105, 106; or PHY 201, 202 - PHY 201 has same prerequisites as CHM 111. The English Literature course meets VCCS's 3 hr. Humanities requirement and the Mason 3 hr. Literature requirement. Select from VCCS's ENG 230 through 279, except ENG 261 & 262 (ENG 112 is a prerequisite for VCCS ENG Lit. courses). Students whose native language is not English are required to submit a minimum TOEFL score of 230 for Mason admission unless they have completed, through courses or transfer, ENG 111, and an additional English course with grades of "C" or better at a VCCS institution. Note 3: Admission to Mason's Computer Science B.S. degree program requires the following: A grade point average of 2.75 or above and any TWO of the following courses: CSC 201 or 202 (Computer Science I or II), MTH 173 or 174 (Calculus with Analytic Geometry I or II), MTH 286 (Discrete Mathematics). Note 4: In order for this transfer sheet to be in force, a student MUST earn the A. S. in Computer Science. The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science requires a total of 120 credits of which 45 hours must be in upper level (300/400) courses. Note. 5: A new B. S. degree in Applied Computer Science (BS ACS) is an innovative approach to the integration of Computer Science with disciplines where knowledge of computation is becoming increasingly important. The curriculum covers the foundations of Computer Science along with a chosen concentration, providing a substantial cross-disciplinary background. The current concentrations are Biology and Geography, with additional concentrations planned for the future. The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science requires a total of 120 credits of which 45 hours must be in upper level (300/400) courses.
