  • Accepts Transfers:
    Yes! Most Thomas Edison State University students bring transfer credits that are applied to their undergraduate degree program.
  • Degree Completion Programs:
    Most associate and bachelor's degree programs at Thomas Edison State University are degree completion programs.
  • Credit For Life Experience:
    Through prior learning assessment, students can earn credit for college-level knowledge gained outside the classroom, including professional/military training, licenses and certifications, CLEP/DSST exams and other experiences.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    There are no minimum GPA requirements. Transfer credits where students earned a D- cannot be accepted. Transfer credits where students earned a D+ or D may be accepted to non-area of study requirements for most programs as long as the student’s overall grade point average of all credits applied to degree requirements is at least a 2.0 or as determined by the School in which they are enrolled, with the following exceptions: courses must be graded C or better in order to apply to most area of study requirements; and all required composition courses must be graded C or better. CR equals C or better at the undergraduate academic level.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official transcripts must be sent directly to the Office of the Registrar from the colleges and/or universities you have attended. Transcripts can be received electronically through a secured electronic delivery system or via US mail.
  • SAT Scores:
    Not required for undergraduate programs.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Not required for undergraduate programs, with the exception of the Accelerated 2nd Degree BSN Program.
  • Essay:
    Not required for undergraduate programs, with the exception of the Accelerated 2nd Degree BSN Program.
  • Application Fee:
    Nonrefundable $75 Application Fee.
  • Interview:
    Not required for undergraduate programs, with the exception of the Accelerated 2nd Degree BSN Program.
  • Other Requirements:
    If you are transferring foreign credit, the University will accept credit recommendations from specific foreign credential review agencies, with a required course-by-course evaluation.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Transfer credits where students earned D- cannot be accepted; credits of D+ or D may be accepted to non-area of study requirements for most programs as long as the student’s overall GPA of all credits applied to degree requirements is at least a 2.0.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    Up to to 80 credits can be transferred from regionally accredited two-year institutions; and up to 120 credits can be transferred from regionally accredited four-year institutions.
