  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) for the applicable term each year. UA offers a number of scholarships to students that have achieved academic and extracurricular excellence at Alabama community colleges and are transferring as a junior to UA. There are also a number of scholarships given to students that are members of Phi Theta Kappa at their community college.

    We welcome students seeking to transfer into UA from other colleges and universities. To apply as a transfer student, you must have earned 24 transferrable semester hours.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    2.0 overall college GPA
  • Official Transcripts:
    Transfer students with fewer than 24 hours must submit an official final high school transcript. During your final term at your present college, have each collegiate institution you have attended forward one official transcript to us.
  • SAT Scores:
    Transfer students with fewer than 24 hours must submit an official ACT/SAT score.
  • Application Fee:
    $40
  • Other Requirements:
    A statement of good standing from prior institutions may be required.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Transferable courses with a grade of "D-" or above may apply to degree requirements unless a grade of "C-" is specifically required.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A minimum of 50% of the coursework required to earn a bachelor's degree must be earned at a baccalaureate degree-granting institution, and a minimum of 25% of the coursework required for the degree must be earned at the University of Alabama.
