    Texas Tech offers a Bachelor of General Studies and Bachelor of Arts/Science in University Studies. The BGS is a program in the College of Arts & Sciences. The BUS is a program in the Office of the Provost.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    If you present the required combination of transferable hours and GPA below, you are assured admission into Texas Tech. You are also assured admission into either the Bachelor of General Studies or Bachelor of Arts/ Science in University Studies programs. The BGS is a program in the College of Arts & Sciences. The BUS program is administered by the Office of the Provost. GPA is cumulative for all transferable courses from all schools attended, and courses taken for grade replacement are used for GPA calculation only if the same course is repeated at the same institution where it was originally taken. Transferable Hours GPA Requirements 12 - 23 hours 2.50 cumulative 24 or more hours 2.25 cumulative.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended are required. An unofficial high school transcript is necessary for academic advising, but not required for admission.
  • SAT Scores:
    SAT/ACT scores are not required for transfer students.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Letters of recommendation are optional. Up to three letters will be considered. Students applying for a B.A./B.S in University Studies will also be required to submit a Statement of Educational Goals and complete a Concentration Declaration Form.
  • Essay:
    Complete topics A,B,C, or D of the Apply Texas Application.
  • Application Fee:
    $60.00 non-refundable fee, submitted with online application. Students can request a fee waiver at http://www.admissions.ttu.edu/transfers/requirements/default.asp.
  • Interview:
    Interviews are not required for admission.
  • Associates Degree Required:
    An Associate Degree is not required.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Transfer students must have a C average for areas of concentration.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    Students may transfer up to 66 credits from a two-year and an additional 24 credits from a four-year institution that may be applied to a degree. Students must complete the last 30 credit hours of required coursework through Texas Tech University.
