Suffolk County Community College (SCCC) is the largest community college in the State University of New York (SUNY) system, enrolling 22,000 students at its three campuses in Selden, Brentwood and Riverhead. SCCC offers the Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.), and Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree, as well as a variety of certificate programs. Students may choose from 69 programs of study. A low student/faculty ratio of 18:1, a highly respected Honors program, extensive extracurricular activities, championship athletic teams, and numerous unified transfer programs are just some of the benefits that make SCCC a first-choice college for many Long Island students.

    Every year over 1,600 transfer students begin their studies at Suffolk by transferring credits from other colleges and universities.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Students wishing to transfer to Suffolk from another college are accepted if they left their previous institution in good academic standing. Some programs have GPA requirements.
  • Official Transcripts:
    High school and college transcripts, from every institution attended, are required.
  • SAT Scores:
    SAT/ACT scores must be submitted if you have taken them.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Not required for admissions consideration.
  • Essay:
    Not required for admissions consideration.
  • Application Fee:
    $35 nonrefundable fee must be submitted with the application.
  • Interview:
    Applicants to the Chemical Dependency Counseling, Fitness Specialist and Human Services programs require an interview.
  • Other Requirements:
    Some programs have additional requirements, including prerequisites.

    Nearly 50% of Suffolk's graduates in 2005 transferred to four year institutions.
  • Transfer Agreements:
    We have transfer and dual admissions agreements with many prestigious four-year schools. This means you can earn your associate's degree from Suffolk then transfer to a highly rated four-year college or university to pursue your bachelor's degree.
  • Special Programs:
    Counselors are available on each campus to assist students with the process of transferring to a four-year college. This may involve identifying possible transfer colleges, collecting detailed information, and developing a plan of action.
