Financial Information

• Scholarships and Financial Aid:
  Stephen F. Austin State University's Financial Aid Office is committed to providing the very best service possible. We want to help our students to secure scholarship, grant, and loan financing options for families of all income levels. Each new and continuing student is assigned a financial aid counselor. We invite you to call or come by our office to discuss the many programs available to assist you in paying for your university expenses.

Transfer Application Requirements

• Minimum GPA:
  Transfer applicants who have completed more than 15 semester hours must have an earned grade point average of at least 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale) on all transferable work attempted. Those college transfer applicants who have completed fewer than 15 semester hours of transferable college credit must have an overall 2.0 grade point average on all transferable work attempted and must also satisfy eligibility requirements for first-semester freshmen.
• Official Transcripts:
  Arrange for official transcripts from all post-secondary educational institutions attended to be forwarded to the Office of Admissions regardless of whether transfer credit was earned or is desired.

  There is a a $35 application fee.

Transfer Credit Policy

• Minimum Grade:
  Grades lower than C are transferable, but may not satisfy specific degree requirements.
• Credits (Min/Max):
  All students must complete a minimum of 42 semester hours including 36 hours of advanced credit at SFA in order to earn a bachelor’s degree.
