  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    When you complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid you are applying for the Federal Pell Grant, Federal SEOG (Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant), Minnesota State Grant, Work Study, and Federal Direct loan funds. SMSU FAFSA Code #002375. SMSU offers scholarship opportunities to transfer students, including University funded Mustang Transfer Scholarship as well as private donor-funded scholarships.
  • Tuition and Fees:
    Total Estimated Tuitions & Fees (12-18 credit hours): $4,420. SMSU bands undergraduate tuition and fees. For students who are enrolled in 12 to 18 credits, tuition and fees will be charged at a flat rate.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Official Transcripts:
    Send in your Official Transcripts from all previous colleges and universities. If you are transferring from a MnSCU college/university we can pull your transcripts electronically.

  • Associates Degree Required:
    Transferring from a Minnesota State Community or Technical College? Students who earn an Associate's degree from a MN State Community or Technical College and earn a 2.0 cumulative GPA or better are guaranteed admission to SMSU!

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Courses with grades that earn credit from other post-secondary institutions will transfer. Majors and minors may have higher GPA requirements and may require that transferred courses be repeated to achieve a higher grade.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    There is no minimum or maximum amount of transfer credit that can or will applied when transferring.
