SOU is the public liberal arts university of the West. Here’s what that means to you and your family. Our liberal arts programs are intellectually challenging, creative and practical. You’ll be learning more than theory—you’ll be connecting what you learn in class with the community outside through internships, capstone projects, and undergraduate research. You’ll also be connecting with professors directly. Classes are small. We’re committed to your success. And while you’re outside the classroom, look around. You’re in one of the most beautiful and diverse ecosystems in the world—snow-capped mountains, wilderness areas, whitewater rivers—surrounding a lively arts community that’s among the most desirable places to live in America.
