You can begin the actual financial aid process Jan.1, which is the earliest you may submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA should be submitted by March 2 to the Department of Education. Our U.S. Department of Education Institutional Code is 003219.

Transfer Application Requirements

Minimum GPA:

Students transferring to SOU from a regionally accredited college or university must show evidence of honorable dismissal from the other collegiate institutions and a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.25 in 36 or more credits of acceptable college work. Applicants who hold an associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or an Oregon Transfer Module (OTM) will be admitted with a 2.00 GPA.
Official Transcripts:

Official transcripts from every institution of higher education attended are required. A transfer student with fewer than 36 transferable quarter credits must submit an official high school transcript.
SAT Scores:

A transfer student with fewer than 36 transferable quarter credits must submit official standardized test scores.
Essay:

An essay is not required.
Application Fee:

There is a non-refundable $50 application fee.

An interview is not required.

Transfer Credit Policy

Minimum Grade:

The lowest grade earned for any course that may be transferred for credit is C-.
Credits (Min/Max):

Transfers should note that a minimum of 45 of the last 60 credits of coursework must be SOU credits to complete a degree.
