Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Not published.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official College transcripts are required, as well as our high school transcript with original recommendations to college if still available.
  • SAT Scores:
    The submission of SAT or ACT scores is optional.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    A College Official's Report is required.
  • Essay:
    An essay or personal statement is required.
  • Application Fee:
    Smith College uses the Transfer Common Application exclusively and we strongly recommend that you submit it online. Your application fee of $60 is waived if you apply online.
  • Interview:
    An interview, on campus or with a local alumna, is recommended.
  • Other Requirements:
    The Transfer Common Application Supplement is required. A Mid-term Report is required. Please submit photocopies of course descriptions for all college courses completed and in progress.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Credit will only be considered for transfer if the host institution awards academic credit and the grade earned is equivalent to a C or better.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A maximum of 64 transfer credits may be recorded on the Smith transcript.
