Founded in 1873, Shorter University is a Christian university committed to excellence in education. The Princeton Review annually includes Shorter on its lists of best value and best Southeastern colleges.   • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    Shorter offers a wide variety of scholarships funded from the University's own resources. Deadlines and criteria vary greatly, so check with the Office of Admissions or the Financial Aid Office as far in advance as possible.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    If the transfer GPA is 2.0 or above, all college level passed courses will be accepted for credit, as long as they are not in violation of a departmental grade standard.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Shorter requires the submission of official transcripts from each institution previously attended. Official high school transcripts are only required if you have less than 27 transferable hours.
  • SAT Scores:
    An official SAT or ACT score report, either sent from the College Board or ACT at the prospective student's request or included on the official high school transcript, is required unless you have earned 27 transferable college semester hours.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    A recommendation from the appropriate administrator at the last college attended.
  • Essay:
    Shorter requires a written personal statement which reflects compatibility between your goals and the mission and goals of the College with your application. An essay written by you on topics to be determined by Admissions is also required.
  • Application Fee:
    There is a non-refundable $25 application fee.

    An interview may be required.
