Explores ideas concerning the use of terms ?alcoholism,? ?alcoholic,? ?disease,? and ?treatment? through a historical perspective on beverage alcohol distillation, attitudes toward drinking, and the politics surrounding the production and sale of liquor. Discusses current treatment approaches and methods of control.
