The course explores the role of professional medical organizations in health care and provides a thorough review of the requirements and timetables for professional school entrance. Students define schools of interest and the application process, assess abilities and areas of strength and weakness, and begin preparation to take admission tests and preadmission interviews.     An exploration of the design of operations planning and control systems in manufacturing and service organizations. Emphasis will be placed on obtaining a better understanding of the problems associated with operations planning and control. Topics include information systems and databases for operations planning and control, forecasting, aggregate planning, master scheduling, inventory control and resource requirements planning, and operations control and scheduling. Prerequisite: MGT 320.

    This course is designed to introduce first-year pre-physical therapy students to the profession of physical therapy and to guide them during their Bachelor’s in Health Science coursework. Students will explore the history of the profession, specialty areas of clinical practice and a broad overview of professional behaviors and how they impact practice and education. This course will emphasize the development of written and oral communication skills. Participation in the Physical Therapy Student Association is expected as well as attendance at ENHP Day. Prerequisite(s): Health sciences/physical therapy major (combined B.S./D.P.T. program).

    This course meets five times during the semester and is meant to guide pre-physical therapy students during their bachelor's in health science course work. Students explore the professional behavior expected of health care professionals and ethical challenges associated with being a physical therapist. Students plan a service-learning experience during this course. Participation in the Physical Therapy Student Association is expected. Prerequisite: BS/HS/DPT major.

    This course meets five times during the semester and is meant to guide pre-physical therapy students during their bachelor's in health science course work. Students explore and understand generic abilities of physical therapy professionals as described by the American Physical Therapy Association. This course also reviews the reasons for course selection as prerequisites for physical therapy students toward the DPT. Students complete a servicelearning experience during this course. Students plan and carry out a visit with a physical therapist in professional practice and report back to the group. Participation in the Physical Therapy Student Association is expected. Prerequisite: BS/HS/DPT major.

    This course meet five times during the semester and is meant to guide pre-physical therapy students during their bachelor's in health science course work. The focus of this course is related to professional practice issues in physical therapy (e.g., patient diversity issues). This course also includes discussions of "hot topics"in physical therapy, such as direct-access legislation, specialization, and advanced training opportunities. Students plan a service-learning project specifically in a health care environment. Academic requirements to enter the DPT phase also are reviewed. Participation in the Physical Therapy Student Association is expected. Prerequisite: BS/HS/DPT major.

    This course meets five times during the semester and is meant to guide pre-physical therapy students during their bachelor's in health science course work. A review of physical therapy practice settings is conducted. Physical therapy faculty participate in this course as guest lecturers. Students attend research presentations by DPT students at the Graduate Research Symposium and the Physical Therapy department research colloquium. Students implement their health care service learning planned in the fall. Participation in the Physical Therapy Student Association is expected. Prerequisite: BS/HS/DPT major.

    This course meets five times during the semester and is meant to guide pre-physical therapy students during their bachelor's in health science course work. This course focuses on evidence-based practice in physical therapy. Guest lectures are provided by clinicians regarding their professional development plan. Students complete a review of their academic record to ensure preparedness for entry into the graduate physical therapy program. Membership in the Physical Therapy Student Association is expected. Prerequisite: BS/HS/DPT major.

    This course presents the metabolic, neuromuscular, cardiovascular, respiratory, and hormonal regulation of exercise, and the subsequent systemic adaptations to dynamic and resistive exercise. Other relevant topics include principles of physical training, exercise prescription for health and fitness, optimal nutrition for human performance, environmental considerations, and physical activity as treatment for a variety of chronic diseases and conditions. This course also addresses guidelines and standards recommended by a variety of professional organizations, including the American College of Sports Medicine; the American Heart Association; the American Association of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation; the American Physical Therapy Association; and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Prerequisites: BIO 212, BIO 213, and BSHS to DPT student; or permission of the instructor. Laboratory fee.
