Introduction and experience in standard opera and operetta in the original language. Important arias, ensembles, and operatic roles are studied and coached. Prerequisite: Permission of instructor. One hour weekly.

2.00 Credits
The culimination of three years of acting, the Opera Scenes class provides students with additional skills to prepare a role for performance and to take stage direction in performing scenes with others. Two hours per week in class; individual and group coachings as required. Prerequisites: DRM 120- 121, DRM 220-221, and DRM 320-321.

Students use the skills learned in the OPR sequence to rehearse and present a blackbox performance consisting of scenes chosen from vocally appropriate repertoire. The class is conducted in a laboratory format, and the final performance is open to the public. Prerequisite: OPR 360 or permission of instructor.

Students use stagecraft, voca, and musical skills to rehearse in laboratory format and present a mainstage production with orchestra, costumes, makeup, sets, and lighting. The piece to be performed is chosen from vocally appropriate repertoire. Performances are open to the public. The class is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors by audition and voice teacher approval. This class may be repeated for credit. Prerequisites: OPR 160 and OPR 161, or permission of audition committee.

A study of human fundamental movements and how they can be integrated into the development of a physical fitness or physical education program. The programs are divided into three basic areas: rhythmics, self-testing activities, and low-organization activities. Each area includes lead-up games to higher-skilled sports.

A practicum course in which officiating techniques and rules for specific team sports, such as basketball, soccer, baseball, and softball, are taught. The course centers on proper officiating techniques, game rules, crowd control, and game management.

This course is designed to cover the organizational and administrative problems encountered in coordinating an athletics program on any level, and the different problems that may confront an administrator or supervisor in the operation of a recreational program.

A history of the development of sports that focuses on the relationship between sports and the sociological, psychological, philosophical, and cultural elements of the times and places in which they exist.
